It highlights the company you worked for the position you had and the location of employment. Under each entry you then can add details about your employment such as accomplishments and responsibilities. One common question I am asked is how to handle promotions. Each promotion should be entered as a NEW entry with an update on the job title and focus on additional accomplishments and responsibilities. The most important concept to remember if you are using a "professional" resume format is that the additional "details" should ideally be focused on the job your applying for! This means you should have multiple copies of your resume as you emphasize different accomplishments and responsibilities based on the job description of the job your applying for. The 2nd most used resume writing format is the "skills" format. In this resume writing format the layout is similar to the chronological but rather than focusing on job history the layout focuses on skills and accomplishments. This resume format is best used by individuals who are making a transition in employment where the jobs are quite different however the skill sets are still applicable. The overwhelming emphasis on the "skills" format is results. It is not enough to simply say "Sales" with no explanation of why thats a proven skill set.
Resumes are scanned into these databases. This can lead to some problems as old scanners can sometimes dramatically change the look of your resume. It is beneficial to build both a scannable resume and a printed resume which you can bring to your interviews To overcome this you can create a scannable resume. A scannable resume is a traditional resume stored preferably as a plain text file and with little formatting. How Long Should a Resume Be? Another important decision you have to make about your resume format is the length of your resume. There are no specific rules on how long your resume should be. Resume length can vary depending on your situation. The length of your resume will depend on how much space you need to compactly and precisely list your relevant skills and accomplishments.
Going through this section employer may find you suitable and aspiring for the position and he may short list you for the personal interview. As you hold a commerce background you must possess string accounting skills. These skills should essentially be reflected in your resume. Educational details also have special place in the fresher resume. If you had extensive experience in any particular field employer would not have focused on your academic details. But as you are fresher applicant you should meet the necessary educational criterion to apply for the job. Your academics will decide your suitability for the job in the commerce field. Additional certification section in the resume will list all your extra certifications whether relevant or irrelevant to the applied position.
