Usually Biodata is collected in a fill in form. The information that is collected from a Biodata form is the first impression a recruiter or company sees of a potential employee and the first chance the potential employee has to land the ever important interview. The Biodata form is a collection of questions that retrieves information about that person s life and work experiences. The form allows a person to express their opinions beliefs and values. This gives recruiters and potential employers and idea of what type of personality one has based on prior behaviour. Biodata also gives an idea of what employees want to achieve in the future. What future job aspirations they have and where they see themselves.
This format will allow you to list the time spent performing a variety of skills described with no listing the exact dates you worked the jobs. Many resumes are actually a hybrid of both resume forms. Remember that there is no permanent rule for how to place together your resume. Your key criterion is to create a resume that works and will capture the employers attention and present you as a serious candidate for the position you are seeking. For many reasons including the unavailability of the right job many of us have taken a job outside of what would be considered a normal career path. If this applies to you then you may be more interested in the next format. Functional Resume The functional resume places a heavy emphasis on skills and abilities. If you have a very strong skill-set however you lack a solid work history you may want to consider the functional format. By drawing the employers attention to your strong set of relevant skills your lack of a solid work history becomes of secondary importance. Did you notice I said relevant skills? By relevant I mean of course those skills that directly apply to the job position the employer is trying to fill.
Most employers prefer this type of resume format as they can easily assess your qualifications by reviewing your recent and past employment history and educational background. Putting your most recent employment first can help them gauge your suitability to the role. It is a known fact that most employers would prefer someone who had recent experience with a role than someone who had experience with it five years ago. When using a chronological resume format you should list your most recently held position followed by two to four other positions arranged in reverse order. Also include the months and years you were employed. You dont necessarily have to provide the exact date. Be sure to be able to explain gaps in your employment if there are any as this will be most noticeable in this type of resume format.
There are a number of situations in which this resume format works well such as: When youre trying to make a career change. (You can list your relevant skills and experience up front then any relevant education. Next list your job history but only include the relevant duties performed at each. When you have done almost the same duties everywhere youve worked. (Listing the same duties over and over under each employer is redundant. Instead you can highlight your most significant skills and experience up front along with any special awards or achievements. Then list only company-specific duties under each employer. Tips for using this resume format. Take the tips listed above for each of the other formats and incorporate them. Also keep in concise and interesting. Avoid boring job descriptions.
