There are essentially 3 different resume formats: the chronological resume the functional resume and the combination resume. Each has its advantages and disadvantages which is explained below. The Chronological Resume Format The chronological resume format is the most common and the one that people are most familiar with. In the chronological format each of your jobs and corresponding descriptions of responsibilities are listed in chronological order starting with the most recent job. Dates of each job are included on the resume and it usually includes a career objective section skills & attributes section or profile section and an education section.
Note that not everyone is endowed with the knowledge of how to write an impressive resume you may seek comfort in the fact that there are sample job resume formats to help you build your perfect resume. A job resume format varies from country to country; one thing that you have to keep in mind though is that your resume should be concise and clear where all your qualifications will be highlighted for your potential employer to see. Make it light understandable and easily readable. Avoid loud colors. Be wary of grammatical errors and typos. Check the proper formatting and layout. You should be detail oriented when writing your resumes meaning you should make it a point to check even the font size and the font style. A good resume will be no longer than two pages. A great resume will be no longer than one page. If you tailor each resume to reflect only the skill necessary for the job you are applying for you will have less information to put down.
If would do little good for you to be the best chef in the world and write a resume for a job as an auto mechanic. Your skills simply would be irrelevant in such a case. Finally lets take a look at the third of the top resume formats. Technical Resume This format places a greater emphasis on your overall qualifications. By focusing on your technical skills and showing that you have increasingly taken on greater job responsibilities the technical resume is a powerful format for professionals such as IT workers. It is also common for a technical resume to draw attention to an individuals intelligence. In such cases the technical resume may focus on demonstrating advanced problem solving skills or list your membership in MENSA and similar organizations.
