From now on when you start Excel your new blank default work book will be the one you have just created. Should you need to create a work book with the original default work book then hit Office>New and select Blank Work book. You can really make the default template your own add a company logo and colors without any extra effort by creating a new default template you can work smarter and faster but keep that professional edge. Templates are spreadsheets that are pre-formatted with text colors and/or formulas. They can be used to save you time and effort. Sometimes you are using a workbook as a template and don t even realize it.
Issue 1: Protect the Worksheet and Cells The first issue when creating a template is to ensure that your worksheet and cells are protected. For example the cells you want people to put data into should not have protection applied and the headlines you need to use to explain where to put the data into should in fact be protected. Further to this in Microsoft Excel 2003 you can set that cells that are protected cannot be selected and I recommend that all headline areas are set in this way.. Issue 2: Lock the Workbook against Structural Changes There are different levels of security in Microsoft Excel such as security at the cell level worksheet level and workbook level.
Look on the left side of your new window screen until you see Microsoft Office Online. Click on the category that you are interest in (for example budgets calendar etc) You will see templates appear for that category. Select the template that looks interesting to you. Click OK. Once downloaded this template can be modified saved and re-used as often as you need it. Excel 2003 Excel 2003 has templates located on your computer and ones that can be downloaded directly from Microsoft.com. Downloading templates to Your Computer To download templates directly to your computer follow these steps: Select File and then New.
