The biodata format (shorter term for biographical data) is usually a one page document containing the basic information about a job applicant. The provided information in this document is the individual s personal data education employment history and character references with lesser details compared to the resume or CV. Biodata is commonly used in the business world though most companies and organizations prefer the resume or CV. This is because these documents better capture the knowledge skills and abilities of a prospective applicant over the biodata which provides limited information about an applicant. Don t however mistake the Biodata format as being irrelevant or outdated because as stated previously in some countries especially those found in Asia the purpose of the biodata is the same as that to a resume.
Usually Biodata is collected in a fill in form. The information that is collected from a Biodata form is the first impression a recruiter or company sees of a potential employee and the first chance the potential employee has to land the ever important interview. The Biodata form is a collection of questions that retrieves information about that person s life and work experiences. The form allows a person to express their opinions beliefs and values. This gives recruiters and potential employers and idea of what type of personality one has based on prior behaviour. Biodata also gives an idea of what employees want to achieve in the future. What future job aspirations they have and where they see themselves.
When trying to apply for a job there is nothing more frustrating and stressful then not understanding what is required of you. It can be very difficult to wrap your brain around the different terminologies that every employer uses. When trying to wade through all the different meanings you can end up more confused and lost than what you did in the first place. As you are aware different companies and employers have different requirements but something you may not be aware of is that different countries have different application requirements as well. So if applying overseas it is a good idea to research and investigate the countries requirements.
