PDF RESUME This type of resume is delivered to the employer in PDF format (Portable Document Format). You write your resume in Microsoft Word or some other word processing program format it convert it to PDF and save it. The file can be sent by email as an attachment. The employer needs to have a PDF viewer or Adobe Acrobat in order to view it. Sometimes this can pose a problem because of computer viruses. People are wary about opening attachments to emails. If the employer wants you to submit your resume by this method go ahead and do it. More than likely they have software that can detect viruses in attachments. WEB PAGE Some people use a single web page to display their resume. You have your own personal website.
There are a number of situations in which this resume format works well such as: When youre trying to make a career change. (You can list your relevant skills and experience up front then any relevant education. Next list your job history but only include the relevant duties performed at each. When you have done almost the same duties everywhere youve worked. (Listing the same duties over and over under each employer is redundant. Instead you can highlight your most significant skills and experience up front along with any special awards or achievements. Then list only company-specific duties under each employer. However the job market is impulsive these days and your situation could change instantly. Come what may you will gain from thinking about how to present yourself in a fine manner. There are basically two types of resume format chronological format and skills format. The chronological format presents your work information chronologically. This is a good format to use if you have a concrete employment record with a stable career growth curve. In this format you can reveal your reliability and professional development. If you have just passed out of a school or returning to the workforce or if you have gaps in your work experience you may try the skills format for your resume. In this format highlight the skills you offer using your work history to hold these skills rather than as the core of the resume.
