Most employers prefer this type of resume format as they can easily assess your qualifications by reviewing your recent and past employment history and educational background. Putting your most recent employment first can help them gauge your suitability to the role. It is a known fact that most employers would prefer someone who had recent experience with a role than someone who had experience with it five years ago. When using a chronological resume format you should list your most recently held position followed by two to four other positions arranged in reverse order. Also include the months and years you were employed. You dont necessarily have to provide the exact date. Be sure to be able to explain gaps in your employment if there are any as this will be most noticeable in this type of resume format.
In the fresher resume you have the option to include all your skills qualifications and certifications; no matter whether it is relevant to the prospective position or not. You dont know the skills required for working in the position and the things exactly expected by the employer. Hence it is good to include all your qualifications in your resume when you are fresher. You can also list the awards received during your school and college in the awards section. But remember that when you are listing all these details maintain the length of the resume and do not let it exceed two pages. Professional Resume Writing There is a lot involved in creating a professional resume that is attention grabbing and lands interviews. Did you know that some job postings can bring in as many as 500-1000 resumes? And recruiters will spend between 10 and 30 seconds reviewing a resume with their primary goal being to whittle down the piles of resumes that they receive each day to a manageable stack of "keepers".
As you can see each of the top resume formats explained serves a different purpose from the other two formats. Be sure to take the time to consider your own unique work history skills and other qualifications. Only when you truly understand yourself from this perspective can you make the best choice as to which of these formats will best serve you. If youre planning to write your resume there are specific resume formats to be followed that you need to know. Always keep in mind that the hiring manager who is going to review your resume has already been through lots of resumes. So it is very essential to take care of your writing style as to impress the employer at the initial stage itself just by looking at your resume.
